jbencks@eagletribune.comSALEM — Officials at Rockingham Park have been told by the state's Department of Revenue Administration that they won't be responsible for collecting a new 10 percent tax on certain gambling winnings. But they still haven't been given word on how the tax is supposed to be reported by patrons.
"They do not believe the racetrack has any responsibility to collect anything on behalf of the state," said Edward Callahan, president of The Rock. "They are working on rules and interpretation as to what people who win will be ultimately responsible for." (more)

Still more questions about NH gambling tax
The Lawrence Eagle Tribune reports that questions remain about New Hampshire's newly enacted Gambling Tax. The legislature balanced the budget by projecting that this new tax would raise nearly $6 million in the first year. However significant details, like who will collect the tax and how, have not yet been determined.
