As a proud Dartmouth grad, I'm proud that Board of Trustees Chair Ed Haldermann has been tapped to take over Freddie Mac, according to The Dartmouth:
Dartmouth Board of Trustees Chairman Ed Haldeman '70 has been named chief executive officer of Freddie Mac, the beleaguered government-sponsored loan organization, a statement from Freddie Mac confirmed on Tuesday. Media outlets including the Wall Street Journal had reported in early July that Haldeman was the leading candidate for the position. (more)
Haldermann's record heading the Dartmouth Board of Trustees has been marked by a lack of transparency, a willingness to demonize anyone who disagrees with him, and a serious disinterest in upholding the will of voters. Sounds like he's perfect for Freddie Mac.
Let's hope he performs better than our fellow alums, disasterous Treasury Secretary Hank Paulsen, and currently foundering Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
