Sunday, July 19, 2009Marshall Lee Quandt said he was glad he could collect a $30,000-a-year pension after working for the state of New Hampshire for 25 years.
He appreciated the health insurance benefits even more — until they were changed July 1.
That's when he and 1,300 other retired state employees were required to pay monthly premiums for their health insurance coverage and up to $30 for mail-in prescription drugs.
With changes the Legislature approved, individual retired employees under the age of 65 now must pay a $65 monthly premium, and a married state employee must pay a $130 monthly premium for a two-person plan. Also, all retirees must pay up to $30 for a mail-in order of a 90-day prescription, up from $4. (more)
