Sunday Book Review- Watchmen

Pejman Yousefzadeh reviews Watchmen, the groundbreaking graphic novel, not the decent but disappointing movie, for the New Ledger:

Thanks to the end of the Cold War, we are liable to take the threat of nuclear war much more lightly, but Watchmen hammers home the degree to which the threat of nuclear war occupied our thoughts during the 1980s.

Having read Watchmen for the first time last year, I was highly impressed, but the heavy-handed politics does look dated given that the story's disdain for the strategy of deterrence proved so far off the mark.
