Telegraph reports on tax study

Kevin Landrigan writes up yesterday's report from the Josiah Bartlett Center outlining the 38 tax and fee increases in the 2010-2011 New Hampshire budget:

The listed tax hikes in this eight-page summary range from the $95.5 million that comes from a $30 increase in the cost of an annual care registration to the $8,000 the state will get by raising the fee for the exam that must be taken by someone applying to be certified as a master boat captain. Other large revenue raises are the 45-cents per pack increase in the cigarette tax ($59 million), the 1 percent jump in the tax to rent a hotel room or buy a meal ($54.4 million) and closing a big tax loophole that allowed limited liability companies not to have to previously pay taxes on their dividends ($30 million).

There's the new tax on gambling winnings of more than $600 a year ($13.8 million) and for those who will pay it, the 11th hour decision by lawmakers to subject RV and tent campsite renters to the 9 percent room and meals tax ($8 million).
