On the 233rd Anniversary of the announcement of the colonies' Declaration of Independence from Great Britain, we honor our namesake, Josiah Bartlett, who voted for indepedence and was the second man to sign the historic document.
Here's where you can learn a little more about Josiah Bartlett.
In addition to his contributions to the Constitutional Convention, where Bartlett was for a time New Hampshire's only delegate, he also served as President and Governor of New Hampshire, Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court, and helped secure New Hampshire's ratification of the Constitution. Bartlett also practiced medicine in and around Exeter for 45 years.
