Lynch: If no deal by tomorrow, layoffs

Garry Rayno reports in the Union Leader that Governor John Lynch has set a Friday deadline for a new deal with state employees, or he'll lay off 750 of them.
Gov. John Lynch said Wednesday pink slips will go to 750 state employees next month unless union leaders agree to a new contract by tomorrow.

He blamed State Employees Association negotiators for backing away from a tentative agreement reached in July.

At a news conference late Wednesday afternoon, SEA officials said the governor's statement is disingenuous and perplexing.
