When did prolific spending become such a virtue?

Foster's takes to task elected officials who celebrate how quickly they can spend taxpayers' money.

The Lynch administration is getting high marks for the speed in which it spends money — in some quarters, at least.

U.S. Rep. James Oberstar, chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, complimented the governor and those in his administration who shoveled stimulus money out of Washington almost as fast as Congress kicked it out the door.

New Hampshire ranks second in this regard among the country's 50 states and the District of Columbia.

New Hampshire Transportation officials have worked hard to get federal money turned into asphalt quickly. The long-term economic gain of these shovel-ready repaving projects has yet to be proven.
