UL- "Plan calls for vehicle registration fee hikes"

Tom Fahey has updated his original Union Leader story on the House-Senate Committee of Conference, and now reports that negotiators have reached several agreements, including increased fees at the DMV:
The two-year budget plan would authorize roughly $11.6 billion in spending of state, federal and other funds, starting July 1.

The committee plans to take up revenue bills today to balance the budget plan. The big question is whether a $200 million Senate gambling plan will survive.

Car and truck owners will see higher costs for the next two years under the budget plan. The committee adopted a new $30 surcharge on most car registrations. Vehicles weighing between 5,000 pounds and 8,000 pounds will pay a $45 surcharge. Trucks would be assessed at higher rates, depending on weight, and trailers of all sizes will cost extra, too.
